1 ½ cups of flour
½ cup of shortening
1 teaspoon of salt
Sift the flour and salt into a bowl.
Add shortening and mix into a course meal sparkling drops of water until it forms a ball.
Make sure not to make the mixture too soft.
Roll out the dough evenly and place half in the pie pan.
Cut off excess around the edge.
Add your pie filling and dampen the crust, only around the edge, with water all the way around so that the top crust.
Place the remaining dough on top of the filling.
Pinch the top crust to the bottom crust all around the edge.
Spread shortening lightly over the top of the crust and bake as directed.
